Summary: WDTO is dedicated to both electing progressive leaders who will fight to remove barriers to voting and training and supporting campaign staff. After supporting over 30 federal candidates in the 2020 cycle, we’re now building out our team and will have a budget of over $10 million. WDTO PAC is hiring a Political Director who will be the first to hold this position and will be responsible for building and managing a political department. 

Primary Responsibilities
  • Identify and track WDTO’s targeted districts 
  • Monitor larger 2022 House map and identify opportunities outside of targeted districts for WDTO to engage 
  • Manage $750,000+ PAC federal PAC giving budget 
  • Develop and manage campaign endorsement process and, with ED, make endorsement decisions
  • Manage political relationships with campaigns, PACs, and committees
  • Build relationships with Campaign Managers of endorsed campaigns and identify opportunities for WDTO to better support them 
  • Build the Political Department 

Qualifications
Applicants for this position should have worked for at least 2-3 cycles in Democratic politics, including, ideally, as a Campaign Manager in a targeted Congressional race. The Political Director should be dedicated to furthering WDTO’s mission and in building an organization from the ground floor. They should also be collaborative but comfortable making decisions independently, have excellent communication skills, be extremely organized, and able to manage both up and down.

  • Salary will range from $85,000-$100,000 a year, commensurate with experience
  • Benefits include healthcare and 10 vacation days 
  • This position reports to the Executive Director and is based in DC but can be done remotely
