REMOTE: Paid Digital Intern at the Michigan Democratic Party

Responsibilities

  • Monitor social media and news outlets for breaking news and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the digital director to research, draft, and edit compelling digital copy.
  • Assist the digital director with drafting, editing, and coding emails for fundraising, event promotion, issue-based, petition, organizing and more.
  • Organize voters with an emphasis on moving people from online activism to offline action, including communicating with voters via channels like Facebook and Twitter direct messages.
  • Support relational organizing work such as developing scripts, engaging volunteer leaders, and driving supporters to take actions. 
  • Collaborate with online groups and organizations to uplift voices and move digital campaigns across audiences.
  • Fact-check and review outgoing emails to make sure only the best copy leaves our party.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in a political, coalition, firm, campaign, or organizing environment, preferred.
  • Creative with a strong desire to learn and implement ever-evolving digital tactics.
  • Comfortable working under deadline pressure, rapid response.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong writer who is able to quickly produce copy.
  • Familiarity in graphic design and the Adobe Creative Suite preferred, but not required.
  • Basic HTML and web maintenance skills and some experience with WordPress or a similar CMS, preferred.
