Summary: Make the Road Connecticut seeks a motivated and experienced Director to continue building the organization.
Organizational Description:
Make the Road CT (MRCT) launched in December 2014, when Bridgeport residents
began meeting regularly, learning about the Make the Road New York model, and
defining their own goals for building the membership of their new organization
and addressing the needs of low wage workers, youth, and immigrants in their
community. Three years later, MRCT has become a hub of organizing in Bridgeport
with 7 staff members and multiple active campaigns that focus on the well-being of our
members. MRCT has fought and won the implementation of language access
protections for the city, passed a Sanctuary City resolution and is currently
working with youth and day laborers on transportation and work-related safety
issues while maintaining a strong presence on local, statewide and national
immigration efforts.
Make the Road Connecticut is a member of the Make the Road family, and a sister organization to Make the Roads in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Nevada. All Make the Roads use a similar organizing model, work in similar neighborhoods, and are coordinate closely on organizational development and campaigns. MRCT is fiscally sponsored by the Center for Popular Democracy, and works closely with CPD on a range of areas.

The Director is the primary point of contact for MRCT, and supports the growth
and success of the organization in the following ways:
The person will receive substantial support and coaching from a deep and experienced team of organizers and directors from across the Make the Road family and the CPD network.
