Field Organizers needed in highly competitive 2019 VA State Senate Race

Debra Rodman’s Campaign for Virginia’s 12th State Senate District is seeking passionate and energetic Field Organizers. Debra is a progressive champion who was elected to the House of Delegates in 2017 through grit and grassroots hard work – and now she’s running for State Senate to do more good for more people. Organizers will play an invaluable role in engaging the community, flipping the critical 12th district from red to blue, and winning a democratic majority in the Virginia State Legislature.

Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to progressive values, and the internal drive to put in the necessary work to win (will involve evenings and weekends, particularly closer to Election Day). Read more about Debra at www.debrarodman.com/meet-debra.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, manage and train volunteers and interns

• Utilize and refine campaign messaging for voter outreach in person and over the phone.

• Plan and execute strategic events and trainings to meet weekly and monthly voter contact and active volunteer goals.

• Build and manage relationships with community gatekeepers and activist groups.

• Identify, develop, focus, and empower volunteer leaders

Qualifications

• 1 or more cycles of campaign experience preferred, or a track record of community or non-profit work either on staff or as a volunteer

• Local knowledge of Virginia a plus, but not required

• Ability to work autonomously to reach goals

• Experience working with people/ strong interpersonal skills

• Ability to teach and coach others, to delegate, and to help others grow as leaders

• Comfortability speaking with people on the phone and at their doors

• Previous experience working with Votebuilder, or an aptitude to learn new technology quickly

• A valid driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle

• Positive energy and a sense of humor!
