Position Summary:
Progressive Turnout Project seeks a Communications Director passionate about
telling the story of our voters, supporters, and employees in their effort
to mobilize inconsistent Democratic voters ahead of the 2020 election.
The Communications Director will lead all departmental operations and staff.
The responsibilities of the Communications Department include strategic
media planning, oversight, and implementation for Progressive Turnout
Project.
This is a full-time paid position based in Chicago, Illinois, reporting to the
Executive Director. Compensation offered will be commensurate with
experience. Position is eligible for benefits, including employer-sponsored
health, dental, and vision insurance, FSA, 401(k) with employer match,
student loan stipend, public transportation stipend, professional
development allowance, 3 weeks paid time off per year, and 11 paid
holidays per year.

Responsibilities:
Oversee external communications
Draft long-term, quarterly, and weekly communications plans
Craft strategic vehicles for promoting PTP messages and stories, including but not limited to writing fact sheets, letters to the editor, op-eds, press releases, radio actualities, reports, talking points, and other media materials
Supervise digital staff, responsible for maintaining social media and website
Supervise press staff, responsible for following news media trends and identifying opportunities to build relationships
Work with other PTP staff to identify communications opportunities and visibilities events, as well as generating on-the-ground content
Required Qualifications (You will be a
good fit if):
You’re organized with the ability to set clear goals and meet strict deadlines
You have strong verbal and written communication skills
You’re proficient in G Suite Products (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, etc), and Microsoft Office
You’re committed to establishing a culture of community and respect in the workplace
You’re passionate about electing Democrats to public office and contributing knowledge to the progressive community
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
You have prior campaign or advocacy/issue communications experience
You have prior management experience
You can communicate in Spanish, including creating written materials
