Summary:

A Progressive challenger in one of Connecticut’s most high profile municipal campaigns of 2019 is seeking a Constituency Organizer to implement faith outreach and voter engagement program in communities of color. The ideal candidate will have previous campaign experience as a field organizer or regional field director -- though applicants of other combinations of skills and experiences will be considered. The Constituency Organizer will report to the campaign manager and will work closely with the candidate.


Position Description

The Constituency Organizer will work to develop relationships with faith and community leaders, set-up church visits and house parties. In order to accomplish this the Constituency Organizer must not be afraid to work hard -- you should expect to personally conduct one-on-one meetings, make daily volunteer recruitment calls, and not be afraid to knock a walk packet or two. Additionally, you will be expected to help develop the outreach plan.


Desired Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of New Haven, CT. Strong preference to those with experience working in one of Connecticut’s urban centers.

  • Prior campaign experience as a staff member or extensive volunteerism.

  • Computer skills and the ability to effectively use tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Drive Applications.

  • Experience with voter databases such as Votebuilder (VAN) preferred.

  • Must be able to prioritise tasks and stay calm and organized under pressure.
