
POSITION SUMMARY: Detroit Action seeks a talented digital leader to enhance our campaigns as we embark on our most ambitious electoral and issue organizing field program to date. This position will be responsible for managing and representing the Detroit Action Digital Communication and Organizing program at the local, state and federal level. The Digital Director will assist in creating boundary-pushing long-term and rapid response digital communications strategies and identify and implement new ways to integrate digital organizing into all voter engagement tactics. We’re looking for someone with hands-on experience with digital strategy and organizing, SMS and peer texting tools, content design and development, social media account management, email marketing, and website management. Our ideal candidate will have competencies in digital organizing, planning and management in support of field, electoral, and issue campaigns. This position will also be responsible for the supervision and training of 1-2 digital organizers plus the yearly supervision of our digital fellows.

The Digital Director reports to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with staff, contractors, vendors and other partners on a weekly basis to maintain program efficiency. Detroit Action and Detroit Action Education Fund are projects of Tides Center and Tides Advocacy.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift boxes of training materials, including audio and video equipment. Able to attend conferences throughout the United States. Must be able to travel domestically on an airplane at least 4-8 times a year.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The position is a full-time position that works 35 hours per week. This position is based in an office building in Detroit, MI – The position will be required to work some weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Must have access to reliable transportation. The position may require national travel up to 100% of the time. The assigned workspace is a cubicle in an open and shared work area with a moderate level of noise and interruptions.
About the Organization:
Detroit Action and its sister organization, Detroit Action Education Fund, are hosted projects of Tides Center and Tides Advocacy. We are affiliate partners of the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD) and the Alliance for Youth Action. The successful candidate will receive generous benefits as provided by Tides. The salary will be determined according to a salary scale which takes into account years’ experience, location, job category, and other factors, but is expected to be $60,,000-$70,000.
