The Climate Action Campaign (CAC) is a highly effective, unbranded coalition of national climate, conservation, and progressive groups, state and local partners, and key allies working to protect clean air and promote action to limit climate change. The campaign regularly partners with national and state-based groups, as well as leaders from diverse communities, to promote climate action, defend against attacks on the Clean Air Act and climate change policies, and showcase the unyielding transition to clean energy driven by state, local and federal action.
Responsibilities
The Sr. Director of Coalition Management supports the Campaign Director in coordination and management of the campaign’s governing partners– the CAC CEOs, Steering Committee, Co-chairs and Policy Strategy Group. Ensure that the campaign’s relationships with the CAC CEOs, Co-Chairs, Steering Committee and Coordinating table leads are efficient and effective.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Managing the Steering Committee and CAC CEOs through the development of meeting agendas, preparation of documents/materials for meetings, facilitation of meetings and management of outcomes with the help and input from appropriate CAC senior staff.
· Communicating outcomes and decisions of governing tables to campaign staff and facilitating appropriate response(s).
· Leading project and priorities identified by the CEOs and Steering Committee by working with CAC staff and/or partners.
· Connecting and coordinating outcomes of CEOs and Steering Committee tables to work of the Coordinating table, Lobby/Policy, Communications and Field tables.
· Helping Executive Director to ensure CEOs, Steering Committee, and the Policy Strategy Group are meeting roles and responsibilities and other duties articulated in governing documents.
· Writing key moment plans and tracking projects across the team.
· Serving as a resource for information on key initiatives.
· Working with campaign leadership, facilitators and outside consultants to ensure tables are functioning as expected, meetings are well-organized, facilitated and prepared.
o Encourage innovative thinking and maintain a forward-thinking approach strengthening the coalition’s effectiveness.
o Help to troubleshoot issues with the coalition, Campaign Director and senior CAC staff.
o Act as a sounding board and advisor to the Campaign Director.
o Gather and disseminate ongoing intelligence from a variety of external sources to a variety of internal players in a constant, consistent, and efficient way.
· Managing government affairs and serving as a member of campaign senior leadership team.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree
· At least ten years of experience with political/issue campaigns or non-governmental organizations
· Demonstrated ability to represent organizational mission and programs in detail with passion and knowledge
· Strong ethical standards, tact and diplomacy skills
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), including strong presentation and negotiation skills
· Demonstrated experience managing principals, staff, and consultants.
· Extraordinary problem-solving skills
· Comfortable with technology and software, including experience with MS Office/PowerPoint
· Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized
· Demonstrated ability managing cross team projects
· Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, lead projects, meet multiple concurrent deadlines, organize time and evaluate priorities
· Ability to collaborate effectively and to work well as a member of a team
· Familiarity with the environmental movement preferred but not required
The Sr. Director of Coalition Management reports to the Climate Action Campaign’s Executive Director.
