JVP (our 501c3) and JVP Action (our 501c4) are building a multiracial,
intergenerational movement of Jews and allies working towards justice
and equality in Israel/Palestine by transforming U.S. policy. We draw
strength from over half a million supporters, 70 chapters, and decades
of organizing for freedom and dignity in Israel/Palestine and the US.
We’re mapping out a path for Palestinian rights to become a core part of
the progressive agenda, we’re fighting for freedom for all people, and
we’re writing a new chapter of Jewish life.
Summary of the role:
The Grassroots Fundraising Organizer will work at the intersection of
JVP’s Development and Organizing teams by leading, growing, and
innovating with JVP’s grassroots fundraising efforts. The Grassroots
Fundraising Organizer must be able to hold and carry out a vision for
leadership development and skill building around grassroots fundraising
for members, donors, and staff. This person will also contribute to
visioning how JVP’s fundraising goals and strategies fit in and can help
grow the movement at large.
The ideal candidate for this position will be someone who understands
the necessity of grassroots fundraising to grassroots organizing and is
creative, collaborative, and passionate. They will be eager to grow with
the organization as we scale our political work. The ideal candidate
will bring a depth of knowledge and experience in development and
organizing, grounded in a commitment to grassroots movements for
justice.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supporting, developing, and sustaining the Major Donor Solicitor
team through coordinating recruitment efforts, coordinating/leading
trainings, and setting up support and evaluation infrastructure for
staff and solicitors.
- Infrastructure building, resource creation, and
recruitment/training for peer-to-peer fundraising projects including
Member Drives and Giving Tuesday.
- In coordination with Field Director, Senior Membership Manager, and
Senior Development Officer, build and execute strategy for cultivating
and training in grassroots fundraising skills and leadership across JVP
and JVP Action’s base and leaders - including the formation and
cultivation of member leadership bodies.
- Participate in outreach and GOTV efforts for JVP’s annual board elections.
- Participate in monthly staff phone bank (1 hour) and attend required staff and team meetings.
- Role requires occasional travel and occasional nights and weekends.
Typical hours of work are 9:30am - 5:30pm, though this is a flexible
work environment. Remote locations will be considered; New York,
Philadelphia, Bay Area, or Seattle preferred.
Desired Qualifications:
- Has at least 2 years of grassroots fundraising experience
- Has at least 2 years of organizing experience -- base-building,
leadership development and/or campaign organizing — in a volunteer or
professional capacity
- Has a commitment to JVP mission, values, guiding principles and methods
- Has experience with facilitation and/or training.
- Is committed to racial justice transformation process, culture
shift work within JVP, and to deepening accountabilities to
Palestinians.
- Able to operate in a fast-movement environment, set priorities, and
bring a collaborative approach even to the most difficult challenges
- Is comfortable talking about JVP’s work -- our theory of change, campaigns and programs
- Ability to build and lead a team, to communicate clearly and persuasively verbally and in writing
- Professionalism, integrity, patience, and a sense of humor
- Self-motivated, requiring minimal direction to accomplish high level of work
This is a non-exempt, salaried, full-time position. The salary is in the
mid to high 50k range (commensurate with experience) with a generous
