Jen Metzger's campaign for NY State Senate (district 42) is seeking Field Organizers for this election cycle. This is a competitive race and NY is one seat away from a Democratic majority.
Ideal applicants will be outgoing and enthusiastic, have ties to the Hudson Valley and Catskills, and comfortable working as part of a team. Applicants will also be willing to work irregular hours, and have a strong commitment to economic, social, racial, and environmental justice.
RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
Executing the field plan and providing the Field Director (FD) with ongoing reports for evaluation of the campaign's ability to reach goals.
Recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to build self-sufficient teams within communities that achieve voter contact goals assigned by the FD.
Identifying and cultivating volunteer leaders, and helping them develop plans to organize their unique communities to persuade and motivate voters.
Organizing (and participating in) canvasses, phone banks, meet and greet events, and other voter contact activities.
Ensuring timely, accurate data entry.
Building relationships with voters and key community leaders.
Working with communications team, constituency coordinators, and scheduler to amplify community outreach and ensure candidate visibility at key events.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least one campaign cycle field organizing experience, including volunteer management and canvassing.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
Proven capacity for self-direction and efficient time management.
Knowledge of VAN, NGP, Google Docs/Sheets/Drive/Calendar, Slack.
Cell phone, laptop, valid driver's license, and access to reliable transportation required.
COMPENSATION
Salaried, full-time positions. Compensation commensurate with experience but does not include benefits.
