U.S. PIRG is hiring a Field Advocate to join our national Tax & Budget Program. We’re looking for an experienced political advocate who will be directing campaign strategy, influencing stakeholders, political organizing, coalition-building, fundraising, and developing staff.
The Tax and Budget Program Advocate will be taking on one of the most important issues facing our democracy. Tax and budget decisions are the most concrete way that communities declare priorities and balance competing values. Unfortunately, government decisions about how to raise revenue and support public functions often fail to best advance the public interest. It is not possible to ensure that government decisions are fair and efficient unless information is publicly accessible. Transparency is key. Likewise, public officials and private companies that receive contracts and subsidies must be held to task for their actions. The Director will be confronting these issues head-on.
