Communications Director
Duties
Coordinate with senior campaign management and consultants to implement all aspects of the communications program, including paid media programs, debate preparation, and major media rollouts
Develop and maintain strong relationships with Virginia and national press corps to advance campaign messaging and effectively communicate key positions, successes, and goals
Work across campaign departments particularly with the research and digital teams to ensure consistent, fact based, message driven communications are flowing seamlessly across all mediums
Manage the day to day operations of the communications team to include a traveling press secretary and communications assistant
Play an active role in framing overarching campaign message and defining campaign narrative to the broader public
Identify new and innovative ways to deliver campaign messaging via new platforms, non-traditional outlets, and earned media events
At least two cycles of campaign communications experience or its equivalent
Previous role serving as on the record spokesperson for a campaign or public facing
organization
Strong writing and organizational abilities with past management experience
Three writing samples that may include speeches, position papers, or other public
communication documents
Previous experience working with Virginia press corps is an advantage but is not required
Ability to excel under a deadline driven, high activity work environment while fostering a strong sense of team and community is necessary
Willingness to travel and work non-traditional campaign hours
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience
