 Americans for Tax Fairness *** National Field Director

Americans for Tax Fairness, a national campaign of 425 endorsing organizations that focuses on federal tax reform issues at the national and state levels, seeks a highly-motivated Field Director who is comfortable operating in a campaign-style environment. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in electoral, legislative and/or issue advocacy campaigns or leading this work for local or state community groups. This is a full-time position that offers competitive salary and excellent benefits package and reports to the Executive Director.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·      Create and implement a national field mobilization and advocacy plan with measurable milestones and outcomes to influence policymakers and generate significant earned media.

·      Coordinate field mobilization and advocacy strategies with national and state partner groups.

·      Engage, communicate with and mobilize state organizations in up to 10 states to take action by developing customized plans for encouraging and supporting their rapid response actions, public education events, advocacy actions and earned media activities, including placing op-eds and letters-to-the-editor.

·      Work closely with ATF communications staff and media consultants who provide support for integrating earned media activities into the field work.

·      Prepare written materials needed to implement a field mobilization and advocacy campaign.

·      Maintain a database of field contacts.

·      Other duties as assigned by the Campaign Manager.

Qualifications

·      Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in electoral, legislative and/or issue advocacy campaigns or leading this work for local or state community organizations.

·      Bachelor of Arts in relevant field.

·      Extensive experience with all aspects of organizing, including strategic planning,  rapid response, mobilization, preparing field materials, generating earned media, utilizing the Internet and social media, and measuring results.

·      Demonstrated ability to successfully engage and coordinate organizations engaged in field mobilization, advocacy and earned media work on national issues.

·      Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, work well under pressure, and manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.

·      Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written forms.

·      Ability to produce well-written field organizing and education materials such as fact sheets, leaflets, and toolkits.

·      Knowledge of Excel and other software for managing contact lists and field activities.

·      Experience working with national field networks and state-based groups that participate in the ATF campaign preferred.
