Nominations are open for the Powerful IDEA Awards

When we reflect on the year 2022, there are moments, events, and initiatives that restored our hope in the future during the times we needed it the most. For me, that event was the inaugural Powerful IDEA Awards in June of 2022. As a person who has experienced increased news & political fatigue over the past few years, that gathering was just the fuel I needed. Seeing young activists from Gen Z For Change sitting across from long-time powerhouses like Minyon Moore & Lottie Shackleford gave me hope that there is more that draws us together, than drives us apart. My other favorite part of that event was getting to honor so many of the unsung heroes that keep our democracy strong. Luckily, we get to do that again this year with the 2023 Powerful IDEA Awards to honor people & programs that have made a positive difference in the lives of others. Nominate someone today! We’re recognizing the most powerful and impactful programs and events run by formal and informal, organized and organic collectives and coalitions, single individuals and organizations in 2022 for our Powerful Programs awards category. If you know of any 2022 programs that fit that criteria, nominate them today for a 2023 Powerful IDEA Award. We look forward to seeing your submissions! — Lyric Swinton, Community Engagement Manager Submit your nominations t! We have five broad categories with over a hundred individual awards that recognize: Transformational Talent and Leadership: Recognizing the people who do the work to impact our democracy, elections, and advocacy. These include the candidates, campaign and organizational staff, consultants, dedicated artists, and activists. Inspirational Organizations and Campaigns: Thousands of organizations from nonprofit educational and advocacy campaigns, party committees, political action committees, and social impact companies that dedicate their work to protecting our democracy. They lead electoral and legislative issue campaigns, voter education, and of course electing leaders who share our values. These awards will recognize the most effective and impactful. Powerful Programs: Critical programs and events are run by formal and informal, organized and organic collectives and coalitions, single individuals and organizations. These awards recognize the most powerful and impactful ones from 2022. Creative Communications and Content: Creative communication or piece of content using video, print, digital, audio, or other media for the purposes of communicating with members, voters, donors, or activists. Transformative Technology: Recognizing the technology built to organize, mobilize, fundraise and communicate with members, voters, donors, or activists. Deadlines and Timelines: Nominations Open: January 2nd, 2022 Nominations Close: February 28th, 2023. Late nominations will be accepted afterward, but may not be included for a full period of judging. GAIN Power Review of Submissions: February 28th-March 15th, 2023 Public Voting and Judging Begins: March 15th, 2023 Public Voting and Judging Ends: May 15th, 2023 Award Winners Announced at Event June 2023 Learn more about the Powerful IDEA Awards.
