Job Description
Posting Period: July 20, 2016 - August 5, 2016
Salary: 15.00/hr. USD
This internship supports the NEA’s strategic objective to focus the energy and resources of its 3 million members toward the promotion of public education by providing a variety of learning opportunities and services to several NEA Centers and departments. A limited number of internships are available at the National Education Association. The internship program will be accepting applications until all positions are filled.

Position Summary:
The NEA partners with institutions of higher education and other organizations to identify interns – generally juniors, seniors, recent college graduates (up to 18 months) or graduate students– who are interested in public education policy and education issues. Students pursuing degrees in Education, Political Science, Journalism, Communications, International Relations, Finance, Information Technology, Business Administration, and Human Resources are encouraged to apply.
The intern program provides interns with training, learning opportunities, and marketable experiences through a variety of rich and substantive programmatic work that support quality public education. These experiences may include conducting research; data analysis; writing, editing, and using Internet applications and social media; participating in and assisting with meeting and policy forums; visits to Capitol Hill; and other appropriate program-related activities. The internships range from six weeks to a full semester.
The Fall 2016 internship session will begin on or about September 13, 2016 and end on December 16, 2016. Stipended interns may work up to a maximum of twenty (20) hours per week. Assignments are based on departmental needs. Interns may work on projects in various Centers or departments throughout the NEA.
