STRATEGY AND PLANNING MANAGER, CLIMATE
The Democracy Alliance, founded in 2005, is the largest network of donors dedicated to building the progressive movement in the United States. We play a leading role in fostering the infrastructure necessary to advance a progressive agenda for America. Over the last decade, more than $500 million has been raised to build and sustain elements of the progressive infrastructure – from multi-issue think tanks to a sophisticated media monitoring apparatus – that did not previously exist. As a result of DA strategy and funding, there have been numerous progressive electoral victories, and many progressive ideas and policies have been enacted – and achieved broad popular support.
After a nearly year-long consultative process, the DA created its five year strategic plan – Vision 2020 – in 2015, outlining a set of ambitious goals that build on previous achievements. By 2020, the DA seeks to build an America where progressives hold the reins of power and use them to make significant impact on several of our nation’s greatest challenges: a fair democracy where everyone can participate; an inclusive economy that works for all; and a planet that is healthy and safe. The DA is committed to addressing the issues of democracy, economic fairness and climate change together because they are deeply connected and sustainable progress will build on that principle.
The DA invests in every aspect of progressive power-building – from policy making to organizing grassroots communities to winning state and national issue and electoral campaigns.
Position Overview
The DA is hiring a Strategy and Planning Manager to help develop and implement strategy and grant making plans, particularly focusing on the DA’s work to build power to win on climate change. This mid-level position will report to the Senior Strategy and Planning Officer and will work intensively with the Climate Fund, a new pooled fund to support state and local organizing and policy campaigns on climate change and clean energy. The Strategy and Planning Manager should have some experience in related fields, such as community and electoral organizing, climate and clean energy policy campaigns, and progressive advocacy infrastructure. The Strategy and Planning Manager is also a part of the Strategy and Planning team, which helps to develop investment recommendations the DA makes to its Partners (members) at the national, state and local levels, monitors the performance of organizations recommended for funding, and analyzes the impact of various efforts.
