We're based in Vancouver Canada but we have staff in DC, SF, Miami, Montreal and Toronto. Remote work is also an option.
Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced, collaborative, empathetic and design-focused product leader to join our talented team as Director of Product.

As Director of Product, you will be a key leader in building those products, by applying customer-centric agile design methodologies to understand customer needs, prioritize customer needs according to their value, and co-design the right product elements to meet those needs. You’ll champion effective product design and usability, and you’ll ensure that New/Mode's platform user experience delights our customers.
Your Core Objectives / Outcomes
Define and prioritize product design and development that will move us most quickly toward:
- empowering 500 million people to take action;
- serving 75,000 causes; and
- continuously reaching New/Mode’s revenue targets.
Your Essential Functions / Responsibilities
- Lead design initiatives to discover customer needs, co-design and prototype solutions and strategically integrate stories into product roadmaps
- Own and hold accountability for managing all product roadmaps
- Work closely with marketing, customer success, sales and senior executives to optimize user engagement and product success
- Provide strategic assessment, direction and market analysis for the product portfolio
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional Product Research and Design team
- Work hand-in-hand with the Product Development team to create the right solutions
- Champion usability and strategic research from a customer value perspective
- Further customer relationships through demonstrated expertise of managing design, development and deployment of enterprise solutions
- Monitor, analyze, and report on KPIs to ensure product initiatives are driving corporate objectives
- Contribute thoughtful perspective for adoption of emerging technologies
- Groom and prioritize the backlog
- Develop user stories and define acceptance criteria
- Set sprint goals
- Approve acceptance tests
- Plan releases and upgrades
- Follow progress of work and address production issues during sprints
- Analyze preferences and requests of customers and end users and incorporate into product roadmaps
- Keep track of industry and market trends
- Manage, and continually evaluate the New/Mode product portfolio
Your Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Track record of successfully scaling / increasing engagement and retention while limiting costs and maximizing lifetime value
- A minimum of 5 years experience as a Product Manager
- Experience in a leadership capacity within a software company
- Background and demonstrated expertise in design thinking and methodologies for business and product design
- Knowledge of software development and web technologies
- Demonstrated business acumen and customer focus
- Proven success in building and shipping high quality products in a complex environment
- Proven ability to understand customer and market needs & opportunities based on market analyses, research and strategy
- Superior data and analytical skills including the ability to define, capture, and deconstruct relevant metrics
- Ability to use an appropriate mix of qualitative research (focus groups, workshops) and quantitative investigation to ensure we are solving ‘the right problems, the right way’
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance customer acquisition & customer retention needs
- Demonstrated product leadership, coaching and mentorship
- Expert at designing and operating lean, scalable and user experience-focused product research, design and iteration processes
- Expertise in agile
- Hands-on experience managing all stages of the product life cycle
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to consult, inform and advise a diverse set of stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills

- Product Owner experience
- Certified Scrum Product Owner or Certified Agile Practitioner certification.
- Experience in scaling start-ups
- Experience with financial analysis and statistical analysis
- Familiarity with risk management, cyber security, data privacy, and regulatory compliance domain
- Familiarity with strategies, tactics and technologies used by advocacy and public engagement organizations
Compensation and Benefits
- An annual salary of $80,000–$90,000
