Fossil Free Digital Community Manager

350.org is looking for a Digital Community Manager who will play a central role in the creation and management of digital systems and resources to support local groups in joining and ramping up their Fossil Free distributed campaigning activities. Together with hundreds of thousands of new people and groups everywhere in the world, the Fossil Free campaign will supercharge the global movement of ordinary people using the power of local action to oppose all new fossil fuel projects and build a 100% renewable energy world for all.

We’re looking for someone who’s able to leverage digital tactics and tools to build real connections and stronger, deeper networks of support for our global community of organisers.  We’re looking for someone who has a strong understanding of and affinity with 350.org’s organising vision and ability to propose and implement smart, fresh ideas to support it.

The ideal candidate will be someone who has a deep commitment to furthering climate justice and the aims of 350.org’s new Fossil Free distributed campaign, and the writing and graphic skills to bring it to life in a way that inspires thousands to join.

This role will sit within 350’s Central Digital Team and be a core member of the global team responsible for launching Fossil Free by January 2018.  They will report directly to the Global Digital Campaigns Manager.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of total experience in digital campaigning and/or movement organising
  • 2+ years of experience at the intersection of online and offline organising, community organising, and direct action.
  • Pre-existing experience with at least two of ActionKit, Action Network, Control Shift and/or civiCRM
  • Strong written communication skills in English
  • Existing technical knowledge of HTML, CSS, Wordpress and SQL, or demonstrated ability to pick up similar technical skills quickly
  • Basic graphic design skills
  • Willingness to work flexibly in a global team and across cultural/language barriers.
  • This position can be based anywhere in the world -- but requires the ability to be flexible to work across all timezones
