Recruiting canvassers ASAP for our IVE Remote Phonebank Program

Hello supporters,

Thank you for your patience, it took us longer than expected to figure out how to pivot and restructure our work during COVID-19, but the CA Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative has been able to make several positive shifts including helping over 600 people apply for Unemployment Insurance, and helping some nail salon owners to get small business loans.

Now is more important than ever we get out there and connect with the communities that we serve, but we can't safely door knock in targeted neighborhoods or even gather in a conference room to phone bank like we have in the past. SO HERE'S OUR PLAN.

The Collaborative is launching our first ever INTEGRATED VOTER ENGAGEMENT (IVE) REMOTE PHONE BANK PROGRAM where we will be connecting to nail salon workers and their families where we will connect them to some of the support services we are offering as well as remind them about completing their Census and voting in November. The nail salon industry, which is predominantly immigrant women led, has been impacted greatly by COVID-19.

We are recruiting up to 12 phone bankers who would be willing to work for about 6 weeks where they phone bank. log their progress online and connect with our team remotely.

We will pay $18/hour for 20 hours per week, 6 weeks

We will provide pre-paid phones and computers if necessary for use on the shifts but having internet access will be an important part of putting this together as will be able to work 20 hours during the campaign time (Monday through Friday 3-6pm, Sundays 1-4pm, plus 2 hours for training or data entry)

Ideally we're looking for people who believe in our work, have experience with field canvassing/customer service, and/or are current/former nail salon workers.  We feel fortunately to still be able to work and offer temporary employment but may not be able to offer positions to everyone.

If you are selected we will be getting you setup as temporary employees of Chinese Progressive Action, where you'll need to undergo orientation, e-sign forms, submit copies of identification (like a driver's license and possibly social security card) and submitting a copy of a voided check to do direct deposit.

How will I get paid?

You will get paid twice a month hopefully by direct deposit. You will need to fill out an electronic timesheet with hours confirmed by a Collab staffmember.

What if the Shelter In Place gets officially lifted?

We plan to honor the six week campaign at remote work.

Is this summer the only chance to work with you?

We will also be doing a Get Out The Vote Campaign which will take place at least four weeks before the November 3rd Election Day.
