2018 Congressional Campaign Program – Campaign Director

Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience

Position Summary:

The California Democratic Party seeks an experienced Campaign Director for the 2018 Congressional Campaign Program.  The candidate should have campaign management experience on Congressional and/or legislative campaigns.  Strong self-direction and the ability to take initiative are necessary qualifications.  The position reports to the CDP Political Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Congressional Campaign Program, including but not limited to day-to-day operations, hiring and management of Program staff, Program budget, and other administrative duties as required
  • Implement overall program campaign plan
  • Gather and address HR complaints in a timely fashion
  • Create and implement trainings for program staff
  • Implement procedures on staff hiring and management, expenditures, reimbursements, script and field messaging approvals
  • Provide regular reports and updates to CDP senior staff on program progress, including but not limited to field numbers and other program statistics to CDP senior staff
  • Work with CDP Political Department, CDP Accounting and Compliance Department, and other departments and senior staff
  • Work with partners and campaign program staff to ensure that activities and reports are in compliance and appropriately budgeted
  • Obtain and maintain thorough understanding of federal campaign finance law as it relates to how State Democratic Parties may work with Congressional Campaigns
  • Manage and complete post-election wrap-up

Qualities and Qualifications:

  • Experience in staff management and volunteer management
  • Strong task management aptitude and/or demonstrated skills
  • Possess demonstrated skill at setting and communicating priorities
  • Proficiency in computer skills
  • General awareness of campaign finance regulations
  • Deadline-oriented and detail-oriented while managing responsibilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Be willing to contribute to the team effort by performing other tasks as needed
  • At least 5-6 years of experience in campaign management and other senior campaign staff roles
  • Support the CDP’s goal to take back Congress in 2018
