Democracy
Builders is looking for a self-motivated person with advocacy and organizing
experience who is passionate about working for an organization that is trying
to change the world.
The Regional Manager will work
closely with community members, community leaders and mission-aligned
organizations to build partnerships that will help to strengthen the
communities served by Democracy Builders.
Responsibilities include but are not
limited to: oversight of family and community engagement programming (public
hearings, advocacy committees, and parent organizing drives); legislative
outreach work (including scheduling assistance, correspondence management, obtaining families to attend legislative
meetings, etc.); and logistics support mission-aligned organizations’ events
(Get out the Vote Drives, rallies, lobbying visits, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Create
and build a network of community members to encourage and support
community participation in activities and events
- Identify
and partner with grassroots leadership to build and develop strategies to
advocate for community residents
- Build
and promote healthy partnerships with the community, relevant
organizations and elected officials that support community goals
- Work
on and successfully execute short-term and long-term projects for mission
aligned organizations supporting the work of changing the world in
education reform
- Assist
in development of strategic and tactical advocacy plans
- Performs
other duties as assigned
- Establishes
and maintains relationships with individuals and groups necessary for
staying current on policy issues and completing projects.
- Stay
apprised of state and city policy issues that directly impact our partners.
- Maintain
databases of partner family information for outreach

- Prior
experience in a charter school environment a plus.
- Proficiency
in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Passionate
about improving the lives of scholars and their families
- Experience
with Organizer or other campaign/ community outreach software
Educational Background and Work Experience:
· Bachelor’s
Degree required
· Experience
with community outreach and mobilization preferred
· Classroom
teaching experience is a plus
