The Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the weekly and biweekly payroll processing, including maintaining related records and filing tax reports and other payroll-related obligations. The Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for approving and overseeing all payroll transactions and documents, as well as reviewing and updating procedures and preparing special reports for senior management as needed.

Reports to: Controller and Accounting Manager

Duties:

  • Maintain control of payroll records and personnel related matters with strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive information;
  • Oversee the accurate and timely preparation, input, analysis and processing of weekly and biweekly multi-state payroll data, as well as working with the legal department to ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws;
  • Oversee the work of the payroll department to ensure accurate and timely processing of new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations and other similar responsibilities;
  • Know all internal policies and procedures and ensure they are adhered to regarding all payroll and personnel matters;
  • Prepare weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports as needed;
  • Perform various journal entries, account reconciliations, and provide general ledger support;
  • Stay current on payroll systems to achieve alignment with other departments and to ensure effective accounting support;
  • Facilitate management and employee understanding of payroll procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations;
  • Audit W-4s, payroll balance sheets, YTD earnings, etc. as necessary;
  • Prepare federal, state and local quarterly and year-end employment tax filings;
  • Communicate actively with Accounting, HR and Administration teams to review cross-departmental impacts and reconcile data sharing;
  • Partner with HR to ensure accurate processing of benefits-related deductions and similar payroll-related HR transactions;
  • Ensure systems are set-up and updated to reflect our current employee base, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time in line with union contracts and other policies;
