Statewide Press Secretary - Midwest 

Midwest battleground gubernatorial race seeks a Press Secretary to drive the day-to-day needs of the communications and press program, working with the communications director, campaign manager, digital director and consultant team to drive an aggressive communications, policy, and press program. The position is based in Detroit, Michigan with considerable in-state travel.

Qualifications and Overview

• On the record experience
• 2 cycles of campaign experience in a communications or research role
• Ability to manage and meet multiple priorities and deadlines while driving the long-term planning and execution of the communications program
• Manage the needs of multiple stakeholders, partners, and reporters on deadline
• Update and manage press lists for 5 key markets and 83 counties
• Execute an aggressive national press strategy 
• Draft and edit talking points, press releases, op-eds for principal and campaign surrogates
• Staff press interviews, schedule with bookers, drive rapid response
  
  

Must-haves:

• On-the-record experience
• Highly organized
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive

Bonus Experience:

• Adobe Suite, BSD, Photography, Final Cut Pro or other video editing software
• Policy rollouts and debate prep
• Michigan or Midwest ties
• Rapid response
• Statewide campaign experience
