The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is tasked with winning and defending state legislative majorities. We equip legislative caucus campaign programs to win elections by providing campaign services through a continuing partnership with legislative leaders, professional staff, and supporters.
POSITION: Research Fellow
The Research Fellow works with our team to support DLCC’s Communications Department.
Duties include:
· Monitoring and clipping press coverage about state legislative sessions, politics, and campaigns.
· Researching candidates, legislation, issue positions, and campaign finance materials.
· Drafting research summaries, blog posts, other materials.
· Providing support for communications and research operations.
· Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Excellent research and writing skills
· Strong attention to detail
· Knowledge of Lexis-Nexis and media monitoring
· Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
· Ability to work collaboratively as a member of our team
Preferences:
· Background in state politics a definite plus but not required
· Experience with government document databases is a plus
· Familiarity with digital media
· Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
The fellowship requires a commitment of 35 hours/week. A stipend is available. The ideal candidate will be able to begin in late June and commit to the fellowship through November 2016. Fellowship extensions of up to one year may be available for select candidates.
