Position: Research Associate  

Location: Washington, DC

Status: Exempt, Full-time

Reports to: Deputy Director (of project)

Position Summary

A new project of the New Venture Fund that aims to bring transparency to organizations and entities that are playing an outsized role in the making of public policy seeks Research Associates to do research in support of its work on issues ranging from economic opportunity to voting rights. 

The Research Associate will be integral members of the project’s core team.  As this is a start-up project, a flexible personality and positive attitude are essential.  

This position is based in Washington, DC. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks 

The responsibilities of Research Associates will include news, Internet and database research, collecting public records in locations throughout the United States, writing detailed research reports, conducting rapid response, presenting research findings to staff as needed, and performing other duties as required.  Some research projects will require travel.

Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability 

• Bachelor’s degree required
  
• At least 2 years of experience in research or related field
  
• Some political or public policy research experience, preferably opposition research experience
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  
• Ability to work independently and juggle competing priorities and strict deadlines
  
• Detail-oriented
  
• Proven track record for being a self-starter
