By bringing together 500 universities into one powerful network (growing to 750+ schools this fall), Handshake has revolutionized the job recruitment process for students and employers. The Handshake network:
- makes it easier for employers to recruit at more schools, which results in 3-4x more - and more diverse - opportunities for students, particularly those outside of the most selective schools
- gives students a modern, mobile and personalized experience, which drives 60% more student engagement than other services, and
- provides Universities the data and tools they need to help their students, demonstrate career outcomes and prove ROI to their constituents.
Our University Teams (Sales, Success, and Support) are key to ensuring the success and impact of our University Partners and students. Sitting on our Leadership Team, the University General Manager will be responsible for leading, mentoring and driving success across all sides of our University business.
You will be responsible for:
- Helping our University Partners drive better Student outcomes - finding jobs and building the foundations of great careers
- Managing our 30+ person University Sales, Success and Support teams
- Building tools that help our University Partners successfully market and engage students and employers to drive higher activation rates, mobile downloads, and data collection
- Building a scalable, repeatable process to distribute best practices to schools to let them act on key initiatives to help drive key metrics
- Building relationships, partnerships, and thought leadership that helps drive learning across the overall industry and builds support for the future product direction of Handshake
- Ensuring our continued success in the University market by building a scalable sales process for future years
- Maintaining and growing strong university customer affinity for Handshake
- Building a scalable and effective team that continues to leverage strategic automation, self-service and training to help our users be self-sufficient, and strategically adds value to the business and to the schools we partner with

- Demonstrates a client-focused DNA with a passion around driving client engagement, and experience building relationships in complex strategic partnerships
- Experience with channel marketing in a complex environment with a multi-faceted product
- Data-driven with an analytical mindset and ability to translate data into exciting marketing communications and initiatives
- Inspirational and empathetic people leader who has managed multiple teams and managed managers
- Excited about evangelizing Handshake and speaking to clients via webinars, public speaking, etc.
