Communications Director for D.C. Metro Area County Executive Campaign

Role: Communications Director

Location: Washington D.C. Metro Area 

 

Role Description: Progressive Maryland Democratic County Executive campaign is looking for a Communications Director to develop and implement a comprehensive media and communications plan.  The Communications Director will work closely with the candidate and report directly to the Campaign Manager.

  

· Experience developing and executing a comprehensive media and communications plan

· Experience developing earned media opportunities and have local press relationships

· Draft press releases and manage surrogates

· Campaign experience, including social media organizing experience

· Ability to write persuasively and in a variety of voices

· Experience working in a fast paced campaign atmosphere

· Commitment to working long and irregular hours (including evenings and weekends) as needed

· Access to reliable transportation

 

Qualifications: A successful candidate should have 2+ years in campaign or advocacy communications experience. S/he must have strong communications strategy and messaging skills, strong media relationship building skills, and be an excellent writer.

Salary and Benefits: Salary is commensurate with experience.
