This year, North Carolina Democrats are laser-focused on breaking the Republican’s supermajority in the State House. That will require picking up seats but also protecting vulnerable Democratic incumbents who are holding our toughest districts.
A top priority Democratic State House incumbent is seeking a campaign manager to help keep this highly competitive seat. You’ll have the opportunity to live and organize in beautiful western North Carolina.
Job Responsibilities:
Planning and execution
- Work with candidate and his advisors to create a winning campaign plan
- Assist the development of campaign theme, brand, issue positions
- Build a team of dedicated, highly qualified, hard-working staff
- Establish goals, track progress, manage resources & deliver results
- Drive the vendor selection process
- Deliver, or create a system to deliver, high-quality research on opposition, political climate, and developments within the community
- Approve and often draft position papers, speeches, press releases, Opinion/Editorial articles, position papers, mailings, advertisements, commercials, videos, and a digital presence.
Management and Oversight of Vendors, Fundraising, Communications, Field
- Day to day management of the campaign, staff, and candidate
- Facilitate productive working relationship with vendors
- Oversee Finance Director’s responsibility for financial plan, budget and fundraising
- Oversee Field Director’s responsibility for volunteer recruitment, achieving voter ID and contact goals
- Ensure campaign data and fundraising are tracked accurately in NGP VAN/votebuilder
- Serve as the liaison to other campaigns, outside groups, press, and Democratic Leadership at the county and state levels.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Preferably 2 cycles of experience, and at least one as a campaign manager, finance director, or field director.
- Demonstrated skill in managing staff and systems
- Knowledge of NGP, VAN/VoteBuilder and other finance software
- Detail oriented, excellent verbal, organizational, written, interpersonal communication skills, and strong work ethic required
- Good time management skills and an ability to prioritize tasks
- Maintain a positive, energetic attitude and ability to work long campaign hours

Compensation: Highly competitive for a state-level campaign and will be commensurate with prior experience and past performance.
