Administrative Assistant to Long Island, NY Councilperson

Great stable government job is opening up for a Long Island Councilperson. Councilperson seeks someone with a political background preferably with experience in campaign work and fundraising. This is a great job to gain knowledge and experience in government, working for a Councilperson that is in a very stable district and has just started his second term which is for four years. Also, an amazing opportunity because the Councilperson is a delight to work for. I know because the position is currently mine and I'm moving on to another opportunity. 

The job itself is that you are the sole staff member to the Councilperson. You're essentially the Chief of Staff, managing all aspects of the Councilperson's office. 

Tasks include:

-Constituent affairs

-Scheduling

-Coordinating with Commissioners and internal staff to work on projects and respond to constituent concerns

-Policy research

-Event coordination 

...and much more.

Salary is over $56k, with NYSHIP health insurance (arguably best in NYS), and NYS pension system.
