A targeted general assembly race in Lake County, Illinois is seeking Field Organizers for the November 2016 elections.

Position Description

 

Field Organizers (FO’s) are the lifeblood of a political campaign.  They are the primary force behind the campaign’s positive message reaching individual voters, and the main recruiter of the campaign’s grassroots volunteers.  They empower voters to vote and turn out the voters necessary to win.

 

An FO’s basic responsibilities include:

Knocking on doors and making phone calls to targeted voters and volunteers during Voter Contact Time

·        Recruiting and managing teams of volunteers and staff to perform specific campaign field activities

·        Managing the voter contact database

·        Implementing the campaign’s field strategy for a particular geographic area

 

Our campaign also seeks to expand the impact of FO’s, encouraging them to grow beyond their traditional campaign role.  Do you have social media skills?  Help us turn our social media presence into a winning campaign asset.  Are you a writer?  Join the press team and get valuable media writing experience. 

 

Requirements / Qualifications

 

Prior campaign experience is preferred, but not required.  Preferred applicants will have at least one election’s prior campaign experience performing field activities, such as managing volunteers and knocking doors.

 

Qualified applicants are excellent communicators, with the ability to think on their feet, be extremely polite, and articulate issue position to voters.    

 

Qualified applicants will demonstrate some proficiency with Microsoft Office – FO’s will regularly use Word and Excel.

 

Qualified applicants have full-time access to a car and cell phone, and must work in the evenings and on weekends.
