Community Organizer Position- Statewide position based in Hartford CT

Type: Full time


Organization: CT Citizen Action Group/CT Citizen Research Group (CCAG/RG)


Connecticut Citizen Action Group (CCAG) and its sister organization- CT Citizen Research Group (CCRG) is a statewide membership organization dedicated to social, economic and environmental justice.  By utilizing grassroots power, CCAG/RG has created change on quality, affordable health care, protection of our environment, fighting for transparent democracy and advancing educational equity initiatives. It is our 10,000 members statewide who give us the clout we need to win!  Major victories include the strongest election public financing legislation in the country, restoring Medicaid coverage for thousands of working families, and holding corporations and elected officials accountable to a just society.


 Duties and Responsibilities:

 

§  Implement CCAG/RG’s program strategies including issue development, organization building, and advancing public policies at the state level;

§  Design and implement CCAG/RG base building plans, including member engagement, leadership development and coalition building;

§  Build and expand membership base through one on one’s, social media and innovative outreach strategies designed by the CARG/CCRG staff and leadership teams;

§  Assist in fundraising activities and other organization building activities

§  Development of organizational strategies related to CCAG/RG’s issues at the state and local level.

 

Qualifications:

 

§  Commitment to social justice

§  3-5 years’ experience in community organizing and/or labor organizing, with a focus on organizing in low-income communities

§  Capacity to think strategically in advancing organizational strategies and issue development at both state and local levels;

§  Experienced conducting one on one conversations and other relationship building activities;

§  Strong social media and communications skills a plus

§  A passion for working with diverse communities, leaders and organizing initiatives

§  Reliable and self-motivated

§  Must be willing to work evenings and some weekend time

§  Fluency in Spanish is a plus

Salary: 

CCAG/RG offers competitive salaries with excellent benefits.  Salary levels are based upon experience.
