SUMMARY:
Need to Impeach is seeking an Email Director to engage, mobilize, and grow its list of more than 5.4 million petition signers. The director will work closely with other NTI department leads – research, communications, analytics, social, paid media – to activate the NTI list with a consistent voice and relevant, strategic messages, for both planned and rapid response campaigns.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage a team of writers and producers to plan, design, and execute both planned and rapid response email campaigns; build out and hire for the team as needed
- Manage and design an email calendar in alignment with NTI’s programmatic and strategic goals
- Oversee email testing, segmentation, reporting, and landing page optimization
- Oversee approval and quality control process
- Help define strategic engagement approach to engage NTI’s 5.4 million (and growing!) list of supporters and petition signers
- Set and meet goals for email mobilization, engagement, and rapid response
- Work closely with data and analytics teams to make optimize and learn more about the NTI list
- Report on performance on a regular basis
- Manage segmentation, onboarding, and lifecycle for new supporters gained from large-scale email acquisition campaigns
- Be a champion for the user and an advocate for long-term value
- Ensure a quality user experience in emails, CTAs, landing pages – communicate transparently and with respect to the email list at all times
- Optimize opens, clicks and unsubscribes to improve and maintain email deliverability
REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent writer and editor; strong storytelling skills with a clear and concise voice
- Careful attention to detail
- Experience managing and communicating to large political or advocacy email lists
- Strategic communicator – can craft messages for different audiences, editing for voice and tone
- 4+ years of digital communications experience
- Highly organized
- Experience with mass mailing process and tools
- Enterprise or political software experience preferred, ideally with list sizes over 500,000
- Experience with other digital marketing (social, ads, SEO) preferred
- HTML proficiency; CSS and some JavaScript preferred
- Proficiency with Google Spreadsheets and reporting experience
- Experience writing for and managing political campaign email or digital communications programs preferred
