The
Sierra Club, the nation's largest and most effective grassroots
environmental organization, seeks a San Francisco-based communications
manager for our ground-breaking, history-making Beyond Coal campaign.
This key
Regional Communications Manager position will directly manage a
team of four press secretaries helping to guide media strategy across a
portfolio of Western states. The Beyond Coal campaign aims to retire a
third of the nation's coal-burning power plants and replace them with
wind, solar, and other clean energy alternatives.
The ideal
candidate has a proven record of resourcefulness, creativity, and a good
understanding of grassroots organizing. A history of managing
successful teams is essential given the fast-paced nature of our work.
In addition to shaping messaging, strategy, and tactics, this individual
will maintain key media relationships, pitch and promote stories for
the campaign, create paid-media plans, and provide on-the-record
comments for news outlets. Candidates should have 5+ years of media and
communications experience, and a passion for environmental and social
change. The job is based in San Francisco (Oakland, May 2016).
