Field Organizers for Congressional Campaign in Northern VA (DC metro area)

Overview

A top-tier Congressional race in Northern Virginia is seeking Field Organizers to join ASAP and work (at least) through the Democratic primary in June. Candidate is a progressive Democrat who cares about gun safety, access to healthcare, protecting the environment, and building an inclusive society. Organizers will be responsible for managing volunteers, overseeing canvassing and phone banking events, and conducting extensive canvassing and phone banking themselves. A successful candidate will have organizing experience, excellent communication skills, and (preferable but not required) knowledge of Votebuilder/VAN. Applicants must have access to a car, be willing to relocate to the Northern Virginia area, and have a laptop.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, and manage volunteers

• Participate in daily call time and regular door-to-door canvassing, as well as frequent evening & weekend events

• Staffing the candidate at events when required

• Plan, organize, and execute volunteer events including meet & greets, signature collection, phone banking, and canvassing

• Enter data and perform quality control

• Achieve all weekly goals

Requirements

• Access to a car and laptop

• Willing to relocate to Northern Virginia

• Excellent written and spoken communication skills

• Outstanding people skills and ability to build relationships with a wide variety of people

• Able to work long, irregular hours (including evenings and weekends)

• Leadership skills to manage and inspire volunteers
