A progressive research firm – IRN, Inc. – is actively seeking a Research & Communications Director. This employee will be responsible for managing research projects, ensuring the accuracy of all research materials, serving as final sign-off on fact-checking media communications, and representing the research team to IRN clients. This position involves staffing diverse partners who are in communication with the press and providing timely and relevant materials for media consumption.


This position is located in the downtown Denver area and, if hired, you must be prepared to relocate if not within commuting distance. This is a full-time position.


Qualifications

       At least three years of legislative and/or political experience, with Colorado experience a plus. 


       Proficiency with Lexis-Nexis, legal records, analyzing primary source documents, commonly used research databases and other basic opposition research tasks required. 


       Experience or demonstrated ability in campaign or political settings where research is applied to message strategy.

    Strong editing, proofreading, and fact-checking skills. 
Demonstrated skills or experience in quality control and working as an individual responsible for approving and releasing materials for public consumption.

       Ability to summarize, analyze and convert large amounts of information into useful 
useful, presentable formats. 


       Excellent computer skills - Internet, Word, Excel, & Power Point. 


       Broad knowledge of Colorado politics and Colorado media.

       Experience supervising employees or working in a team.

       Demonstrated ability to design work schedules and manage deadlines.

       Willingness to adapt to new circumstances, implement office directives, and show initiative when necessary.

       Experience in writing materials for press and public consumption or equivalent knowledge of media relations.

       A strong commitment to progressive causes. 


       Strong communication skills and the ability to represent an organization to clients 
and operate as the point person on accounts. 


       Work well under pressure, have the ability to manage several projects simultaneously, and adhere to strict deadlines. 


       Must be willing to have a flexible work schedule.

       Must understand and respect requirements of confidentiality. 


       Must be discreet, tactful and unobtrusive. 


       Must be detail oriented.
