Planned Parenthood is the nation's leading sexual and reproductive health care provider and advocate. Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia (PPAV) is a statewide organization whose mission is to preserve and broaden access to reproductive health care through legislation, public education, electoral activity, and litigation in the Commonwealth of Virginia. PPAV works to ensure that individuals and families have the freedom, information, and ability to make their own informed reproductive choices.
Program Overview
The Black Organizing program is Planned Parenthood’s national effort to work with the Black community on fights for reproductive health, sex education, and access to care. Beginning in 2019, Black Organizing Program Organizers have worked to build sustainable, community-organizing teams in partnership with the Black community.
General Description
PPAV is seeking an organizer to work in close coordination with Planned Parenthood’s national organizing team, engage and grow a base of Black supporters, and build power for the reproductive health movement in the Black community. Each organizer works directly with local and national Planned Parenthood teams to develop and execute campaign plans in their assigned area. The organizer will use a local campaign/initiative as a vehicle for deepening Black engagement at the local level.
