A New York City elected official is looking for a Communications Director to handle media outreach and events. The Communications Director will organize events, draft releases, and handle all aspects of media strategy and relations.
This position requires a some press experience, either in government, journalism, or in campaigns and advocacy. Recent journalism or English graduates are encouraged to apply. Applicants should possess strong writing skills, knowledge of New York City and State politics, and should be available to start within a few weeks. The ideal candidate works well in a fast paced environment, can multi-task under tight deadlines and is a team player. VERY strong attention to detail is required. The position reports to the Chief of Staff and the elected official, so creativity and an ability to self-start are crucial.
The job requires occasional work on nights and weekends. Applicants who own a car will get priority. Proficiency in a language other than English is also preferred, and should be noted in cover letter.
