Distribution Coordinator: Message from a Pandemic - short-term contract at The Leap

We are hiring a short-term Distribution Coordinator to support the launch of our upcoming short film, Message from a Pandemic.  The film is created by the production team behind A Message from the Future with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and imagines the world we could build out of the disaster of COVID-19.  The Distribution Coordinator will report to our Senior Manager of Communications, and work with organizations around the world to organize a global launch event around the project in July 2020.  

About the Job

The Distribution Coordinator is responsible for organizing a successful global launch for Message from a Pandemic. In July 2020, the film will be released worldwide in multiple languages, with dozens of partners from around the globe.

This role requires strong organizational skills and requires previous experience organizing online events, working with video across platforms, and connections to a range of international organizations. Strong written and spoken English is a must; multilingualism is an asset but not required. The role includes:

Building the Partner Network

• Working with The Leap to develop the initial offer letter: a chance to partner on the launch event of Message from a Pandemic, and using it to promote the relevant work the organization is doing.
• Bottom-lining outreach to organizations around the world to reach, and working with the production team and other partners to carry it out.
• Supporting The Leap team in creating a Partner Toolkit to support the launch, including social posts, headers, emails, a press release and a launch page on theleap.org.

Translation

• Overseeing translation of the Partner Toolkit into multiple languages
• Sourcing accurate translation of the video into multiple languages

Launch

• Researching best practices to launch the video simultaneously across platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter)
• Working with the team and global partners to help plan and execute the launch event
• Overseeing the release of the video on multiple platforms on launch day

Application Information

Position Type: Full-time, 6-7 weeks.

Application Deadline: Rolling & open until filled.  Final deadline June 2nd 2020.

Start Date: As soon as possible

End Date: With project launch, estimated mid-July 2020.

Compensation: $10,000 CAD (candidates in Canada) / USD (U.S. or global candidates), flat in installments.

Location: Remote from any time zone from UTC -7 to UTC +1 (check yours here). Access to a computer with camera, phone and reliable internet are a must.
