National Field Director
This
job can be based in New York, NY or it can be based in Los Angeles,
CA, San Francisco, CA or Washington, DC (with travel required)
The
Committee of Interns and Residents, the largest resident physicians'
union in the country, is looking for an experienced, ambitious and
dynamic candidate for the National Field Director based out of New York
City.
About Us:
CIR
is a nationwide, progressive, member-driven healthcare union
representing 13,000 resident physicians. We fight to protect the
workplace rights of doctors-in-training and improve the delivery of
quality health care.
Job Description:
- Develop
and oversee a coherent national agenda, including measurable goals and
metrics, for building and maintaining a strong CIR presence and identity
that effectively provides a stronger voice for physician-members.
- Oversee
CIR’s internal organizing operation (contract negotiations, membership
engagement/leadership development programs and advocacy campaigns),
including the direct supervision of Regional Directors in CA, DC, FL,
MA, NY, NJ and NM.
- Direct and coordinate the
work of other departments to ensure alignment with CIR’s national agenda
for membership engagement and growth.

CIR is looking for candidates who have:
- Minimum 4 year degree, BA/BS, additional degree in relevant area preferred
- Minimum 5 years relevant bargaining/organizing/chapter building experience
- Prior supervisory experience
- Demonstrated ability to create and implement strategic campaign plans.
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to manage conflict and adversarial situations
- Ability to work independently, think critically, and prioritize multiple tasks
- Healthcare experience preferred, but not required
- Must be willing to travel on a regular basis
- Must have a valid driver's license
