Position Summary:

The Manager, Digital Organizing as a member of the Organizing Leadership (OL) team is responsible for leveraging digital tools to build community support for ending the injustice of educational inequity. The Manager will support the development of key tools in collaboration with colleagues across LEE teams working on community organizing leadership. The Manager, Digital Organizing will be part of a team of organizing leaders that will work together to build the strategy, lessons, and framework to meet the goals of member engagement and leadership development. They will be responsible for adding additional capacity and support to the team in reaching and growing a network of activists that are responsive and engaged with LEE’s content with a particular focus on building leaders who move from online to offline engagement. The Manager, Digital Organizing should be passionate, versatile, and enthusiastic in building member experiences using online tools to tell the story of educational inequity and the power of community organizing, while identifying new supporters, and inspiring them to take action. Previous experience in digital organizing is necessary for this position. Prior experience with online content creation for digital advocacy is preferred. This position reports to the Vice President, Organizing Leadership.


Position Location: Flexible; Los Angeles, Denver, Bay Area and Washington, DC preferred

Travel Requirements: 20%


Responsibilities:

Content Creation (40%)

  • Generate content for Organizing Alliance’s social, text, online communities and other platforms that engage campaign supporters and drive measurable online actions.
  • Develop content (including graphics and, if appropriate, short videos) for online/digital ads and deployment
  • Develop scripts for text message campaigns to accompany campaign programming
  • Create and run A/B tests for emails, ads, and text messages as appropriate; analyze the performance of ads, emails, and text messages, and adjust content and strategies accordingly

Planning and Strategy (25%)

  • Build plans and provide strategic advice in collaboration with the Organizing Leadership team in envisioning, building and implementing a comprehensive digital organizing strategy that applies best practices in content and data analytics related to campaign tools (email list, website, community and social channels) leading to effective engagement and measurable actions driven by our campaigns
  • Collaborate with Directors of Program and Organizing and the Regional Impact Team on identifying trends in the digital organizing space while helping identify tools and strategies to pilot

Training and Coaching (25%)

  • Build internal digital training modules and training content for audiences including LEE members, LEE staff, internal and external stakeholders, and volunteers

Special projects (10%)

  • Additional projects as assigned by the Vice President, Organizing Leadership
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 4 years professional work experience, with 3 years of highly relevant work experience
  • Experience with digital organizing campaigns, political campaigns, social media/digital, and/or public relations and marketing
  • Training and facilitation experience to teach and mentor others in digital organizing skills and strategies
  • Experience with Salesforce, Google Analytics, WordPress, BlueStateDigital, NGP VAN / EveryAction, and/or other similar advocacy platforms.
  • Proficiency in the strategic use of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms for marketing in a professional workplace setting, as well as social media management systems (i.e. Hootsuite)
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Deep relationship building skills
  • Strong data management abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of graphic design (extensive design experience is not required)
  • Commitment to understand race, class, gender, and other equity issues as part of your work as well as the impact these structural issues have on our collective work environment
  • Belief in and commitment to social, racial, and economic justice to end educational inequity
  • Excellent time and project management to prioritize and maintain focus on production
  • Ability to receive and integrate performance based feedback into ongoing work plans as well as the ability to provide relevant and timely feedback to peers in a constructive manner
  • Strong, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team
  • Deep passion for educational equity and belief in LEE’s mission and theory of change
