Member Services Director Job Description

The Member Services Director has a two-part role, depending on the number of offensive and defensive seats the Committee has. In an off-year, this person is responsible for building out the Members’ political staffs, providing Members’ fundraising aid and assisting Members with building schedules and making connections in districts outside their own. When there are key targeted incumbent seats for defensive holds, the Member Services Director will mirror the Candidate Services Director for these incumbents, coordinating closely with their campaign staff and keeping an eye on messaging that crosses both the official and political sides. They will also coordinate with the Deputy Director of Special Projects on any training and/ or fundraising needs necessary. The ideal Member Services Director has both campaign experience

and experience working directly with principals and comes with a finance background.

Responsibilities

• Develop finance plans for incumbents and target candidates.
• Staff call time for members and candidates.
• Assist incumbents and candidates with field planning, turf cutting, and data entry basics.
• Assist with candidate recruitment and SDCC events.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Passion for Democratic principles and a strong commitment to the SDCC’s mission and goals.
• Able to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
• Excellent communication skills a must.
• Experience managing multiple complex projects and meeting deadlines.
• Experience managing a state legislative campaign is preferred.
• Finance background desired.
• Ability to find creative solutions to campaign-related issues.
• Some work on email writing and social media may be required.

Compensation and Benefits:

Target annual compensation for this position is commensurate with the relevant professional experience of a candidate. SDCC offers a competitive benefits package and is an equal opportunity employer.
