Now Hiring - Field Director


Katie Hill for Congress is seeking ambitious candidates for our Field Director position. The race is in a highly competitive, targeted red-to-blue congressional district in Los Angeles County. The Field Director will be the face of the Katie Hill for Congress campaign in communities across the district and will be responsible for overseeing the entire program as well as taking an active role in developing political relationships in the district. We expect to build a robust volunteer infrastructure to run an aggressive voter registration program as well as a direct voter contact/canvassing effort.


Responsibilities


The primary responsibility of the Field Director is to create and execute a field program to build and leverage a new volunteer infrastructure that will meet our voter contact goals through multiple phases of the campaign. You will recruit, hire, train, motivate, and manage a team of field organizers who will organize their turfs into teams that motivate voters. You will cultivate a positive, winning culture and work closely with the Campaign Manager to develop and execute your plan. You will analyze your team’s performance and implement changes and accountability to maximize results. You will bring local activists and clubs into the campaign to build strong relationships. You will serve as a campaign surrogate throughout the district. You will be a leader and a mentor on the campaign, providing guidance and professional development to junior staff.


Skills and Qualifications


  • Candidate should have strong work ethic, professionalism, interpersonal skills, experience meeting goals and deadlines, and the ability to manage many tasks simultaneously.

  • Candidate must be self-motivated and willing to work long hours, including nights and weekends.

  • Candidate must have the ability to communicate with diverse communities and leaders, from large audiences to one-on-one.

  • Candidate will preferably have at least two cycles of organizing experience.

  • The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative analysis skills and be familiar with database management.

  • A good sense of humor and a strong interest in and commitment to politics are must. 

  • College degree, strong connection to the district, and Spanish fluency preferred but not mandatory.

  • Driver’s license and vehicle are required.
