Communications Director Job Description

Overview
A highly targeted congressional
race in the Northeast is seeking resumes for qualified candidates interested in
serving as a Communications Director. This will be a highly active primary and
general.
Responsibilities
The Communications Director will be responsible for all media and
communications aspects of the campaign. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Work with the Candidate,
Campaign Manager and other senior campaign leadership to develop and
implement a strategic communications plan.
- Generate earned media
coverage of the Campaign’s message through proactive planning and rapid
response.
- Write press releases,
statements, media advisories, talking points, columns and remarks for
campaign and surrogates.
- Schedule media interviews
and provide appropriate background information to the candidate, senior
staff and/or surrogates for all media events.
- Field and respond to all
media inquiries and oversee media tracking program.
- Travel with and staff the
candidate and surrogates to media events as needed.
- Manage and increase social
media imprint.
Requirements

Experience in a communications position for political campaigns.
- ·
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- ·
Track record of success in a fast paced, high stakes environment
- ·
Demonstrated ability to manage staff and work with volunteers and
interns.
- ·
Experience in writing a communication plans.
- ·
A vehicle is required
