About the Role 

Patients For Affordable Drugs is looking for a Patient Organizer to help recruit, organize, and grow our patient community. 


About the Organization:

Patients For Affordable Drugs is the only independent national patient organization focused exclusively on achieving policy changes to lower the price of prescription drugs. The bipartisan organization, founded by a patient with an incurable blood cancer, amplifies the voices of Americans struggling under crushing drug prices to make policymakers and elected officials see the heavy toll of high-priced drugs. P4AD does not accept contributions from any organizations that profit from the development or distribution of prescription drugs.



Position Responsibilities

  • Manage NGP EveryAction patient story database including pulling lists of patients in target groups for events and press needs

  • Grow, develop, and mobilize patient community for actions around drug pricing including patient outreach by phone, text, email, and social media

  • Work with patients to write patient blog posts with their personal stories

  • Recruit for and help execute patient advocate webinars

  • Coordinate, recruit for, and train patients for patient fly-ins to Washington D.C. to meet with their Senators and House Reps

  • Prepare patients to share their stories in front of state legislatures, with the press, and with partners

  • Edit and vet patient stories submitted online 

  • Administrative tasks as needed

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Available for full-time (40 hours/week) employment

  • Previous organizing experience preferred, but not required

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong writing and research skills

  • Detail-oriented, self-starter, flexible, and able to manage multiple tasks at once

  • Open to feedback with a strong desire to develop professionally

  • Ability to work closely with others

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive

  • Experience with NGP VAN or EveryAction preferred, but not required


Position Logistics

  • P4AD provides competitive compensation and benefits including health and dental insurance, life insurance, and 401K to its employees 

  • Position is based in DC, but will be remote for the time being due to the COVID-19 crisis

  • Position is full-time
