A dynamic New York State Senator’s team is seeking a Community Organizer to engage constituents in the district in new and creative ways.
An ideal community organizer will be ready for anything! On a given day, an organizer may staff the Senator during his regular subway station meet-and-greets, plan and execute mobile office hours, manage resident’s casework, help draft letters or mass mailings, canvass neighbors experiencing a power outage, attend a community meeting and more. Most importantly, community organizers need to love working with people!
This Senator’s district is extremely diverse – encompassing NYCHA developments, young families, and senior citizens and is truly a microcosm of New York!
Experience working on issues affecting residents of public housing is a must. Previous experience on political or issue-based campaigns is strongly preferred.
Nights and weekend commitments are frequent, but balanced throughout the organizing department. Successful applicants will have significant interaction with the Senator and report directly to the Chief of Staff.
