Overview

The Brighter, Healthier Future for Colorado’s Kids campaign is seeking an Outreach Director.  Colorado also has the nation’s highest rate of nicotine vaping among youth, with over 27% of high school students using e-cigarettes. In Colorado, 5,100 people die each year from smoking, and 91,000 kids under 18 right now will eventually die from smoking.

In November 2020, a ballot measure will be on the ballot to increase taxes on tobacco and nicotine vaping products to reduce smoking. The funding will initially be used to provide relief to state budget cuts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and would then give every child in Colorado access to free early childhood education.

 

Responsibilities

The  Outreach Director will manage all outreach for campaign, including (but not limited to): 

• Recruit, manage and build a coalition to pass the ballot measure.

• Manage all organizational and political outreach.

• Draft Digital content.

• Conduct Political Outreach.

• Build relationships with diverse communities, healthcare, early childhood and advocacy groups.

• Give Presentations on the ballot measure throughout the state.

 

Qualifications

·       Successful candidates will have at least one cycle of campaign experience.

·       Prior experience in Colorado Preferred

·       Strong oral and verbal communication skills

·       A reliable vehicle and phone is required

·       Understanding of digital and social media tools used in political campaigns

·       Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills

·       Ability to work long and irregular hours, including weekends, evenings, and some holidays

 

Position Details

·       Salary is commensurate with experience but will range from $3,500 - $6,000 a month

·       Start date of July 2020

·       Position reports to Hilltop Public Solutions
