We're hiring canvassers for 2-5 shifts per week at $15/hr. Work weekdays and/or weekends. Also leads needed at $20/hr.
The Organization:
Keystone Progress is Pennsylvania’s largest and most effective progressive organization. We work on a variety of progressive issues, building power for working people across the state. We are proudly pro-choice, pro-union, pro-public education and pro-civil rights for all people.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Keystone Progress is hiring canvassers to conduct Get Out the Vote (GOTV)
efforts in working class communities in Erie, Lancaster and York counties. We
want to win elections for our endorsed candidates, but we also want to build a
permanent progressive infrastructure in the communities where we work. This is a great entry-level position for
someone looking to work in politics or community organizing.
This position is temporary and runs only through November 8, 2016
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contact voters through door-to door outreach to:
- Educate them on the issues that Keystone Progress supports
- Identify potential community leaders
- Teach them about the candidates who are endorsed by KP
- Get them to vote on Election Day
- Contact voters through phone calls for the same purposes as above
- Daily data entry
- Participation in local political events/rallies
- And other duties assigned by supervisor
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to perform all of the duties outlined above
- Valid US Driver's License and own car strongly preferred
- Previous canvassing experience a plus
- Proficiency in the use of web-based databases and performing data entry tasks
- Commitment to social change and to the mission of Keystone Progress
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
