to GAIN POWER: Jobs That Are Left
Field Organizer - Minneapolis City Councilmember Lisa Goodman

Friends for Lisa Goodman is looking for a part-time Field Organizer to help build and execute a field operation in Ward 7, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Lisa Goodman has a history of standing up for change. Before she was elected to the City Council, she stood up for women’s reproductive rights as the executive director of Minnesota NARAL. Confronted by threats to women’s rights and advancement by obstructionists at every level nearly every day, Lisa did her part to defend the women who were counting on her. When she led the pro-choice election effort in 1996, the MN Senate achieved a pro-choice majority for the first time in Minnesota history. Lisa worked for Paul Wellstone as his director of fundraising during his successful bid for Senate in 1990, and has consistently stood up for progressive values in the face of almost impossible odds.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Recruiting and training volunteers to engage in direct voter contact (e.g. phonebanking).
  • Executing field plan for Caucus recruitment in attempt to secure DFL Endorsement.
  • Maintaining relationships with party leaders and activists within Ward.
  • Meeting and exceeding strict daily and weekly goals related to voter contact.
Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to discuss political issues and current events with voters and volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours including weekends and some nights.
  • Reliable access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license.
  • One cycle as a Field Organizer or campaign intern preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Votebuilder/VAN preferred but not required.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. Employment begins ASAP and extends until November. Compensation will be part-time, $20/hour and 20 hours per week. To apply, please submit a resume with the subject line “Field Organizer Application” to Zach Schultz at in...@friendsforlisa.com
