Overview
Democratic Official(s) is looking for an associate to help support and promote the agenda of the incoming conference. This multifaceted position is ideal for a dynamic, organized individual who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment. We are seeking someone who is a team player, is interested in project management, and enjoys an active learning environment in a growing team.
Role & Responsibilities
This individual will serve as a primary communication and overall support liaison. They will be responsible for the following:
· Respond to phone calls and emails
· Facilitate the dissemination of information through internal communication channels
· Communicate important announcements via email, newsletters, calls, calendars, etc
· Planning and attending events
· Develop and create ideas in order to further the conferences messages
· Research both local and legislative topics
· Compose regular reports on hyper-local and statewide issues
· Draft and edit documents, including press releases, fact sheets, columns, memos, talking points, statements, etc.
Goals
To work to establish a congenial, supportive, and collaborative relationship with Democratic official(s).
Coordinate and participate in strategic planning processes to support efficient and effective office operations and maximum utilization of services and resources.
This position is based can be based in New York City.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent (Required)
· Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel (Required)
· Some evening and weekend work (Required)
· Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
· Strong presentation skills
· Intellectual curiosity, sound problem-solving and decision-making abilities, and strength in creative and innovative thinking
· Exceptional attention to detail, strong organization and time management skills, and the ability to perform non-routine work with changing priorities.
· Comfortable handling confidential information in a mature, and professional manner
· Ability to work independently as well as in teams in a highly-matrixed environment, receiving direction from and providing support to multiple sources
· Relevant Work or Intern Experience
· Passion for progressive issues
· Case Management Experience
· Knowledge of local and state politics/government
· Knowledge of the legislative process
Language
Mandarin is preferred, but not required
Russian is preferred, but no required
Korean is preferred, but not required
Farsi is preferred, but not required
