Community Voices Heard (CVH) is a member lead organization comprised of low-income people building power in New York City and State to improve the lives of our families and communities. Since its first meeting in 1994 with 80 people in attendance, Community Voices Heard was established and would eventually become one of the leading organizations working for economic justice in the country.
Participatory Budgeting, also known as The People’s Budget, gives real decision making power to residents in deciding how $1 million dollars or more of the public budget will be spent to improve their community. Improvements to schools, parks, libraries, public housing, and more have come through this process because people made decisions using the power of their vote!
In our role as a community engagement organization, CVH is hiring passionate, motivated canvassers to engage residents across the 28 participating districts in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, & Queens. Canvassers must be able to articulate the message and obtain specific information from people leading up to and during the week of the vote (26 March-3 April). Our team will also be responsible for setting up and running vote sites in the areas we are doing outreach.
